What is Crossfit?

CrossFit is a training program that builds strength and conditioning through constantly varied and challenging workouts.

Each day the workout will test a different part of your functional strength and conditioning with the goal of building a body that’s capable of almost anything.

At Crossfit MidHudson we’re committed to working with people of all ages and fitness abilities. The beauty of CrossFit is that anyone can do it!

That sounds like a lot!

Starting new things is hard so we want to let you know as much information about how things work here so you can feel safe coming in and knowing what to expect.

We have a couple of different options to meet your needs depending on your own preferences and fitness levels — and remember, all the workouts we do we scale to meet individuals needs. Read on for our options to get started!

Option 1

Personal Training

“I need a helping hand to get going”

We often hear from folks who have been working for months to get in shape to come — well we got you! No matter where you are we can work with you with 1:1 personal training sessions to get you comfortable in the gym and learning the techniques for all the exercises safely and efficiently.

Call or email to discuss your aims and book your first personal training session.

Come in for personal training! We’ll work with you in blocks of sessions til you feel confident. We offer 30mins for $40 or 60mins for $70. We’ll spend the time to focus on your personal goals and document your progress.

When you are ready we’ll get you joining our group classes. We’ll work to up the intensity at a pace to suit you and scale the movements as you need. If you only ever get this far, that’s fine too!

Option 2

On Ramp

“I think I’m ready to jump in!”

Ready to get stuck in? Come join us for your first class for FREE and we’ll show you the ropes. For this ‘On Ramp’ class we’ll introduce you to the fundamental movements of CrossFit, show you around the gym and what to expect in class, and we’ll have a consultation to discuss your health and fitness goals.

The On Ramp session is a simple as coming to one of our classes. We’ll get you set up with how everything works and the fundamentals of CrossFit. We’ll have you sign our waiver and document your goals to work towards.

Once you’ve taken then On Ramp class and feel confident you can attend any of our group classes on the schedule. We’ll get you set up and running with a membership!

FAQs

  • You can find us at 10 Commercial Avenue, Highland, NY 12528. We’re just off the Hudson Valley Rail Trail, not far from the Walkway over the Hudson.

    We have plenty of free parking if you are driving and showers available to use after class if you need to head straight out.

  • Comfortable sneakers and clothes you don’t mind getting sweaty are all you need to get started.

    As you get more confident or if you want to get all the gear early, we can recommend options to get you going.

    For example more efficient shoes that work well for all the different types of training we do like the Nike Metcons, Reebok Nanos, or Nobull Trainers etc

    Gymnastic grips can also be helpful — we like the no-hole versions.

    Knee sleeves can help for squatting.

    Folks often like to get their own jump rope tailored to their preferences. Talk to us about what to look for.

  • A warm welcome! We’ll first get you to sign our waiver and check in on what your goals are. Then we’ll show you around the space, where you can put your stuff, and go over how things work. After that we’ll get started! Once we’re done with your first session we’re often hanging around after for a chat — so join us!

  • You’ll get access to our scheduling app through ZenPlanner to book classes and see the daily workouts listed out for each week.

    You’ll also be invited to our members Facebook group to chat with all our members and hear all the latest announcements.

    We have monthly social events and can often be found hanging out chatting after classes — we’d love to have you join us.

  • After your On Ramp class or Personal Training you can start with 10 class/month before you commit to our full monthly membership.

  • Check out our pricing page for the latest.

  • Our schedule lists out all our class times and slots we have available open for you to come in and workout, stretch, or practice.

    Personal training slots are available between classes and to suit your schedule.
